Sue Pritchard is the director of the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission. Set up after the EU referendum, the commission soon discovered that the challenges ahead transcend the immediate problems for food and farming posed by Britain leaving the EU.

As climate change has risen up the public and political agenda, farmers have found their usual practices being challenged from a climate and environmental point of view. At the same time, unequal access to healthy, nutritious food across society is contributing to a growing obesity crisis. The Food, Farming and Countryside Commission aims to bring farmers, rural communities, public health experts and policy-makers together to find a way forward.

Sue Pritchard presents the commission’s recent research and recommendations for the future.
